SARAH SHIHO

REGISTERED ACUPUNCTURIST
CERTIFIED PEDORTHIST

Sarah Shiho graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor in Human Kinetics degree in 2007 and began her career as a Pedorthist in 2008. After working with lower limb custom orthotics and bracing for over 15 years, Sarah expanded into Traditional Chinese Medicine, graduating from the Tzu Chi International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and focusing on Neoclassical Acupuncture. Sarah supplements her practice with solfeggio sound frequencies and food therapy.

Sarah overcame her own health challenges of endometriosis and gastrointestinal dysbiosis with the help of various therapies and a healthy lifestyle enabling her to travel to over 45 different countries, get on the BC Angels LFL football team, and start a family.

Acupuncture can treat everything to realign the body back into harmony in every facet of health; physical, mental, and emotional. From concussions, anxiety, stress, uncontrolled emotions, postpartum symptoms, menopause, male and female infertility, insomnia, migraines, and relieving unwanted symptoms from medical treatment or chronic illness. It’s extremely effective in relieving pain, from TMJ, unexplained pain, nerve sensations, lower back, neck, shoulder, knee, and feet. Besides treating their main concern, patients feel they can handle stress better, feel lighter, and overall happier.

Sarah focuses her treatment using Neoclassical Acupuncture in which she has completed the Masters level training. This style uses a single retained needle to harmonize the whole body. Neoclassical Acupuncture (NCA) is a new style that Dr. Slate Burris developed over 15 years and has been teaching for 2 years. Currently, Sarah is the 3rd person in Canada and the only one in Maple Ridge practising it. NCA, like Acupuncture, can be done at any time and any stage of distress; whether chronic or flare ups, lingering to extreme.

In her Pedorthic career, Sarah has helped to treat pain and injury in feet, ankles, calves, knees, hips, and lower back with custom foot orthotics and knee bracing. Conditions treated include rheumatoid arthritis, anterior tibialis dysfunction, plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, shin splints, diabetes, in-toeing, meniscal tear, ligament injury, and osteoarthritis. She worked with Olympic gold medal sprinter, Robert Esmie, and helped many high-level runners, ice skaters, snowboarders and skiers through pedorthic care.

Sarah’s professional interests are mindfulness and the human gut microbiome. Her hobbies include screenwriting, comedy writing, hiking, and travelling.
