Trish began her professional career at the Kelowna College of Professional Counselling. As a member of the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association, Trish has experience working with people of all ages who have experienced relationship issues, unhealthy family dynamics, grief, depression, and anxiety.
She believes that collaboration and trust are essential to your working relationship – you are the expert on your life and she is here to facilitate change, progress, and awareness into the issues you are facing.
Trish provides counselling in multiple areas, such as grief counselling, couples + family therapy, and anxiety-related issues.
What does loss mean to you? Grief doesn’t always imply a death. Many experience grief resulting from other causes such as a diagnosis for a loved one or yourself, a breakup, or children moving out of the home to name a few.
Navigating life after loss can be a scary process. Trish can help you grieve in a safe place, teach you coping skills, and assist you on your journey to moving forward.
She specializes in working with families who have had a diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer’s. It can be overwhelming to walk out of an office with a bunch of fliers and literature on these diseases and not know where to start. Trish will connect you with the resources you need and she will also teach self-care for the caregivers and provide family therapy.
Couples + Family Therapy
Feeling valued and heard is vital to a healthy relationship. Sometimes, a breakdown of communication can be difficult to sort out. Trish provides a safe place for you to discuss difficult issues that can’t be discussed in a productive way at home.
In couples therapy, Trish will work with you on protecting the relationship, sharing the hurt, taking responsibility, and seeing the good in yourself and your partner.
Our aim is to work together to build better communication and cohesion in your relationships. Trish will help you develop an awareness of negative patterns and offer tools to change those patterns, navigate complex family dynamics, or any specific issues that your family is facing.
Has the pandemic changed the way you react to situations? Is the uncertainty of COVID unbearable? Have you started experiencing anxiety symptoms and don’t know what to do? COVID-related anxiety issues are all too common.
Trish’s style of counselling is a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy and family systems therapy. She believes in teaching you how to think, not what to think. With cognitive behaviour therapy, Trish can help you understand anxiety and how it affects you mentally and physically.
She will work with you to recognize the patterns and obstacles that are preventing you from being who you want to be. As well, to change those patterns, Trish will guide you to develop coping skills and a variety of techniques that are right for you.
